The Challenge

The Oyster team went through a modelling journey before selecting Forbury. "Before using Forbury we started with Excel which was great with flexibility but lacked integrity in the calculations, we tried a software solution but it lacked the flexibility we needed, and there were certain blackbox elements to it," explains Wright. The team needed a comprehensive solution that could handle complex assets with a high volume of tenancies and recovery profiles while maintaining data integrity and providing transparency.

Forbury’s Smart Error Alerts ensure an integrity check every time. An alert appears, taking the user straight to the cell with the issue rather than having to manual locate the error.  

“Traditionally we'd have to work with a lot of different formulas across lots of different sheets and there's always the concern that someone else plays with the model and breaks those integral links. Forbury would alert you straight away, whereas you wouldn't necessarily know with an internal model.”

 

Streamlining complexity to focus on strategy:  

"The Forbury model is extremely dynamic yet it's very light and lean. You can model a complex asset with many tenancies, many different recovery profiles, ending and splitting spaces at whatever point during a cashflow period and know that ultimately the integrity of your calculations would be intact." 

The efficiency gains were significant for the team. "The many built-in efficiencies like the tenancy upload, the integrity checks across the model all save time and ultimately mean we can focus more on the data inputs and the strategy for the asset" Wright explains. Additionally, "consistency in the output data from Forbury means that when it comes to reporting time, you can export all the key assumptions into our reporting systems and keep our investors up to date with high integrity of the data." 

 

Ultimately, these efficiencies allow the team more time to focus on strategic asset management.
